Solar Semiconductor bags award of “Best Organization supporting QC movement”
Hyderabad, 9th September, 2010: On the event of the 23rd Annual Chapter Conventions of Quality Circles, organized by Quality Circles Forum of India (QCFI) on 7th and 8th September, Solar Semiconductor, a Hyderabad based manufacturer of solar photovoltaic cells, modules and system integrators bagged the award of “Best Organization supporting QC movement”, for the second consecutive year.
Shri D. Sridhar Babu, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education, Govt. of AP has inaugurated the convention along with Shri Madhu Yashki, Member of Parliament and presented the awards to the Best Organizations supporting QC movement. Delegates from various industries and from various backgrounds including banks and schools participated in the two days conventions.
Amongst the 24 competitors from all over India, QCFI has evaluated the organizations based on commitment towards implementations and practicing of various Quality concepts like Quality Circles, Kaizens, Quality Improvement teams, Poka Yoke and Jidako with integrated companywide TQM approach.
In all 94 quality circles had participated representing 24 organizations in the competition. Three gold and one silver medals were won by the quality circle teams of Solar Semiconductor, who participated in the competitions. In the knowledge test conducted amongst all participants from all over India, the team from Solar Semiconductor, Ms. Jagadiswari & Mr. Srinivas won the prestigious “GNANARATNA” award in a stiff competition from 94 quality circles.
Solar Semiconductor, a young company compared to all major competitors, was selected for the award for the second consecutive year, having received similar award in 2009, for its strong Quality Management system, practicing the Quality concepts and creation of high level of employee awareness on concepts, which in turn results in organization of high standards and self development of employees.

We are proud that our quality circle teams have won three gold and one silver medals in the all India competitions”.
Solar semiconductor also conducts periodical internal conventions to encourage employee participation in quality concepts. Employees are encouraged by internal rewards for Best Quality circles, Kaizens and Poka Yoke projects.
