Semiconductor’s family of Building Integrated
Photovoltaic (BIPV) modules is designed to address the
rapidly growing BIPV market segment of the solar PV
industry. The integration of photovoltaics (PV) into the
building envelope not only helps off-set initial
construction costs but also is aesthetically pleasing.
Our BIPV modules replace parts of the building envelope
(such as roofs, facades, skylight systems and canopies)
while generating power, thereby reducing initial as well
as operating costs. These modules are designed to blend
in better with the sophisticated look of the modern day
buildings and have many functional as well as visually
appealing features.
The BIPV module family offers models ranging from 125 to
270 W, which employ 156 mm mono as well as
multi-crystalline cells. The cells lay embedded in
transparent EVA, encapsulated between tempered glass on
either side or between a tempered glass in front and a
clear Tedlar at back. The glass used can be of any type
- tinted, decorative or screen printed to get the
desired design. These modules can also be offered in the
form of double glazed finished laminates or with bonded
carrier frames in case of structural glazing systems.
