Inauguration of Mobile Solar Power Plant
Solar is the fastest growing energy source in the world. It is non-polluting, environmental-friendly and offers an endless supply. It’s affordable, efficient, and reliable. Traditional electricity generated is the #1 source of toxic air pollution because 2/3 of it is produced from fossil fuels. Solar energy is clean, green and renewable. It not only reduces greenhouse gases, but also maximizes energy savings; helps reduce our carbon footprint and leave a better environment for future generations.
The CNE radio station is powered by a mobile solar power plant from Solar Semiconductor and Sonepar
The 2.76 KW (Kilowatt) DC solar power plant is built using twelve 230Watt panels manufactured by Solar Semiconductor and can potentially generate 2760 kWh (kilowatt hour) of electricity annually. On average, producing 1MWh (Megawatt hour) of electricity with solar power reduces emissions of more than 800kg of carbon dioxide, nearly 4kg of sulfur dioxide and 2.5 kg of nitrogen oxides. Solar power plants are very modular in nature and can be easily set up for residential, commercial and utility market segments.
Solar Industry analysts project that by 2030 cumulative global installed solar PV capacity will be 1800GW (Gigawatt); with annual solar power production of approximately 2600TWh (Terawatt hours) with approximately 4 billion consumers and direct employment potential of 10 million jobs. This implies solar PV would help reduced annual global carbon dioxide emissions by over 1.6 billion tons or output from 500 coal fired plants with average size of 750MW. Clearly, solar energy is set to be a key renewable technology that will supply power to the world in the future.
