On the event of the 22nd Annual Chapter Conventions of Quality Circles, organized by Quality Circles Forum of India (QCFI), Solar Semiconductor, a Hyderabad based manufacturer of solar photovoltaic modules and system integrators bagged the award of “Best Organization supporting QC movement”.

Shri Jupally Krishna Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Civil Supplies Food, Legal, Metrology and Consumer affairs, Govt. of AP has inaugurated the convention and presented the awards to the Best Organizations supporting QC movement. About 600 delegates and 35 industries from various backgrounds including banks and schools are participating in the two days conventions.

Amongst the 35 competitors from all over India, QCFI has evaluated the organizations based on commitment towards implementations and practicing of various Quality concepts like Quality Circles, Kaizens, Quality Improvement teams, Poka Yoke and Jidako with integrated companywide TQM approach.
Solar Semiconductor, a young company compared to all major competitors, was selected for the award for its strong Quality Management system, practicing the Quality concepts and creation of high level of employee awareness on concepts, which in turn results in organization of high standards and self development of employees.

Two Quality Circles from Solar Semiconductor participated in Chapter convention (Hyderabad) and National convention (Vadodara) last year and bagged “Excellent” and “Par Excellence” awards for their case study presentations. These two circles are now competing in International Convention to be held in Phillipines during 20-26th October 2009.

Solar semiconductor also conducts periodical internal conventions to encourage employee participation in quality concepts. Employees are encouraged by internal rewards for Best Quality circles, Kaizens and Poka Yoke projects.
